I am a native of Jalisco, who has lived in the United States most of my life. The relationship between Mexican history and American popular culture has shaped my experience, my work examines this while blending the past and present of both cultures. As humans we are part of a system, immense and mysterious, a place where natural resources are being transformed to fit our immediate needs. My work reflects human progress and innovation within the natural world. I am interested in the powerful imagery, history, and metaphorical potential of various forms of transportation and architecture. Vehicles (literal or figurative) such as trains, watercraft and aircraft contain energy that can propel change with both positive and negative ramifications to cultural advancement. Medium choices are made with an understanding of their historical use, symbolic associations and my physical collaboration with the given material.
